Book Description
A STORY OF LOVE, JOY, HATE AND DESPAIR, AND ONE MAN’S RUTHLESS CAMPAIGN FOR REVENGE.
This story will have resonance for those who have an interest in murder, homophobia and Irish-British relations, those who enjoy a good romance, MI5, MI6, the royals, civil servants, police, and the Honourable Member for Bolsover.
In a story of 120,000 words, with the action set early in the new millennium, an extraordinary number of prominent British citizens were dying around the world in mysterious and gruesome circumstances. They were all closet or overt homosexuals. Outside the highest government, intelligence and police circles in London, few knew that each murder victim was linked by common threads.
As one of the deaths happened on his patch, the case in Dublin is given to forty-five year old Irish detective Inspector Turlough (Toby) O'Toole. O’Toole suffers from a bad back, is a big Country and Western music fan, and is depressed and lonely - until he meets his femme fatale Noyance. He becomes involved in a series of events which will prove his undoing.
In the course of his investigation, O’Toole encounters The Druid, the mastermind behind the campaign of murder and destabilisation, a man bent on revenge. His ultimate target is the young king of England.
From the Author
This novel is written to offset the disinformation and dominance by a strong military power over a weak nation, and begins to right the balance.
It is written with humour, music and poetry, as befits the work of an Irish author, and in doing so, challenges 'political correctness' and immorality.
A number of themes run in parallel and compliment each other - the revenge of The Druid, the decline of the British, the progress of O'Toole the detective, and his ill-fated romance.
While the book stands on its own, there is more to be said, and so I am working on a second novel which continues some of the themes found in The Druid.
